Tucked away on the side of a hill, you'll find this "grass-covered" dwelling...and, if you sit patiently without making a sound, the family of gnomes may appear!
Reminiscent of a hobbit hole you might find in the Shire, this handcrafted Gnome Home was designed from original sketches and includes some special features unique to the homes of Hobbiton! The house you make from our kit makes an adorable "earthy" dwelling for your tiny dolls or fairies.
Features & Kit Contents:
The back of the house opens up to reveal a spacious ground floor and an upper loft. The front door has a beautiful, embroidered "ironwork" design, which has already been stitched for you when you purchase a kit! The kit includes all the materials (except glue, ruler, needle, thread & iron for fusing fabrics) to handcraft one miniature house. Included in kit are fabrics, Timtex or Peltex stiff interfacing*, Wonder Under fusible web, rug canvas, yarn, latch hook tool, embellishments, 2" high wooden fencing, wool fleece for chimney "smoke." Also, included is a pattern & instruction booklet with step-by-step directions with diagrams, color photographs and full-size patterns. A zig-zag sewing machine is required to complete this project.

Construction: The finished house measures 8½" high, 12" wide & 9" deep. The house is not quilted or filled with batting, but has very firm, fabric-covered walls made with a revolutionary, ultra-stiff stablizer that is easy to sew through, but makes the completed house quite durable. Techniques used are sewing by machine and by hand (straight & zigzag stitching, plus hand whip stitching), and simple rug latch hooking. The tool, yarn and directions for latch hooking the "grass" roof are included in the kit. If you've never latch hooked before, you'll find it so easy and fun that a child could do it! I've taught needlecrafts to children ages 8-12 for many summers and latch hook rug making has always been a favorite activity of our class.
Skill Level: Although not suggested as a first time project, it is appropriate for a beginner with some experience ages 12 to adult. (Latch hooked roof can be completed by ages 8 and up.)

These tiny, handcrafted gnome dolls are a great addition to any fairy community or dollhouse. They’re fun to play with because they can sit, bend, hold on to things, sit on a swing and be posed in a variety of fun ways! Each set includes three dolls clothed in colorful wool felt jumpsuits, caps and coordinating scarves in an attractive, organza drawstring bag. Each set comes wearing different bodysuit colors, although specific color requests cannot be guaranteed. Colors vary, please let us choose. (NOTE: These dolls are made from wire, felt and wooden beads and, because of small parts, are not suitable for children under age 4 or any child who still puts things in their mouth.)
